5 Minute Presentation

9/21/2010

Objective:
Students will learn how the different belts distinguish the levels of knowledge and training other practioners have had. They will also learn the different meanings behind the belt colors and what a belt means.

Procedures:
1.   I will start by introducing myself.
2.   Then I will pull out a black belt and ask what this means to the class.
3.   I will then give my belt to a random person from the class and ask if this person has the same knowledge of any other black belt.
4.   Next I will begin to explain that a belt doesn't really mean much, for the knowledge and years of training isn’t lost when one does not carry their belt.
5.   I will allow the class to view the assortment of belts I’ve collected over the years.
6.   While they have a chance to see all the different colors and markings of and on the belts I will be explaining the significance and meanings behind the belts.
7.   I will conclude my presentation.

Check for Understanding:

  • I will ask the class if they have any questions or things they didn't understand.
  • I will let people handle the belts and inspect them how they please.

Resources/Materials:

  • I will bring my collection of belts hopefully from my first white belt to the black belt I now own.

1 comment:

  1. Remember that you can't talk about all of your belts during your 2hr if you choose to do so during your 5 minute presentation. Can you choose one belt and give us information on how you received it (the process, challenges, successes, etc...)?
